Yesterday was a very cold but very productive day at the Bar Harbor Hannaford, where many people stopped by to help contribute to the Hancock County Food Drive, run by Healthy Acadia.

Despite the chilly weather, community members showed remarkable generosity, donating essential items to support those in need throughout Hancock County. As the photos show, Public Safety Operations Coordinator Edgecomb's cruiser left full of food, toiletries, and other necessities for people in our community.

"The generosity of Bar Harbor residents, even on such a cold day, demonstrates the strength and compassion of our community," said Public Safety Operations Coordinator Edgecomb. "These donations will make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors facing food insecurity."

The Bar Harbor Mount Desert Police Department would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this event successful, including:

  • Hannaford and their generous and kind staff
  • Chris Popper
  • MDI HS student volunteers: Mahala, Julian, and Audrey
  • Everyone who donated items

The collected items will be distributed by Healthy Acadia through their Hancock County Food Drive initiative, which works to address food insecurity throughout our region.
